Review: I noticed it said "light-emitting diode backlights" are flying off the shelves. Does anyone know a company or a stock that makes these? That might be a good trade.

Review: I just started using a new solar charger for my iPod Nano and new iPod Video. It's called the Soldius1. I got it from www.mysoldius.com. It works great and I can take my iPod Video anywhere! Will Apple offer this unit or one like it direct?

Review: Instead of calling to the local store everyday to check on the stock, you could have just ordered one at Apple's online store. They don't charge you until it has shipped, so you can always cancel the online order in case you find some in local store before its shipped.

Review: I wonder how come Apple didn't forecast demand. Even then I wonder why they don't have diversified supply portfolio, i.e. having more than one vendor for the same components (e.g. LCD screen, etc). It's awful to see a company losing sales because of supply constrictions. Demand-supply is a middle-school concept.

Review: There is a place on the Apple site for trade-ups on Apple-bought purchases.

Review: The video iPod has a new chip in it which does the video decoding, so that's why there's no upgrade path. As for announcing the new iPod before it's available: there's no better way to severely dampen sales of existing product - so of course they won't do that. You've got to understand the business aspects of introducing new products - it has to happen sometime, and you don't want it to interrupt your sales, so someone who buys existing product a week before the new is announced might be upset. But, you can't blame the company for taking the right course of action to maintain maximum sales and shareholder value.

Review: High demand is a problem? How many companies have been trying to have this problem and failed?

Review: Shame on Apple for not releasing the video iPod sooner. I would have waited if I knew. Also, why couldn't they just offer an upgrade like Sony did with P2P Internet Browser? I am almost 99% sure that my 30GB iPod can play videos with an upgrade or driver. Why should I have to purchase another $300 + piece of equipment???? Oh well!

Review: I agree. I waited exactly one week after its debut for the 60GB black! Pasadena, CA Apple store wouldn't even take my order over the phone to hold one, even w/credit card. I had to physically call on a daily basis, and see if they got one in. Then be in the store within two hours to purchase it, or the iPod was back in the storage room at the back of the store for the next giddy teen! They didn't even have any on display! You had to ask to see the device. But it sure is beautiful, and worth the wait!

Review: Odd. I just bought a 60gb at the Apple Store in Tucson. I had my choice of black or white and 60gb or 30gb--they had them all in stock.
As for video, I could honestly care less. I've already got 50gb of CDs I imported into iTunes. That only leaves 10gb for video anyway and I much prefer to simply use the remaining space as a portable work area/backup.
