Review: The iPod video is the best to come out so far. I have gone from the 20 GB to the 30 GB photo, to the 30 GB video. All of them have been remarkable and I have not experienced any problems. The video resolution is great. I love watching videos whenever I want. This iPod is by far the best that apple has produced.

Review: It seems that Apple thinks that studios will be jumping to supply it material to show on the video iPod. As you put it, it said "Disney is the only player right now simply because it is the only studio Apple told in advance about the video iPod." As a matter of fact, in another article in BusinessWeek itself, you mentioned that Apple approached a few other studios who refused.

Review: The ipod video is great! Except...terrible customer support, not intergrated for the new wireless headphones, and is a little pricey--they should allow you to trade in your old ipod for a % of teh new ipod and pay a difference

Review: I have issues with iPods at the moment, having used a reliable 30GB 3G one for just over 2 years. I was less than pleased when the bug in iTunes 5.0 killed it. I just went out and replaced it with a 60GB photo one the very week the video ones were released. I like the old format (shape), increased capacity and battery life but feel the timing of the old one crashing and burning couldn't have been worse!
It is still good to see Apple developing quickly and not resting on the laurels of 21 million iPod sales so far.

Review: Good review overall. It makes me want to try out the video iPod now!
Apple is indeed a class act and as Ive been saying since 1986, its products are better thought out, faster, easier to use, and far more elegant. You can be sure that "enginering-driven Asian manufacturing" is *not* modus operandi here... dont get where you think those Asians are designing great hardware ?? If you mean computer hardware, how do you figure ?

Review: John, I agree with you 100%. It's definitely very tacky on the part of Apple. Also did you know that according to CNET, Apple is going to demand 10% royalties on all iPod accessories, so you can expect those prices to go up too. Guess Apple is trying to milk the market for all it's worth. FYI check out the link below to a cool universal power/data cable that works with iPods, cell phones etc. Only $40 --pretty good deal in this day and age.

Review: Apple knows how to build a classy and stylish product. I only wish they showed the same class when dealing with their loyal customers.
The new, lovely iPod comes without a standard power charger. For something that costs Apple less than $5, you have to shell out another $30. Am I supposed to carry my laptop along just so I can charge the iPod over its USB port? This is the height of cheapness Mr. Jobs.

Review: The music industry isn't having as good a time as the Hollywood boys. How many studios have supported QuickTime format? So the video download game isn't starting yet.
No doubt Apple has done a wonderful job in product design and the whole concept of iTunes. Competitiors are also not sitting dead for another walk-over by Jobs.
2006 is the interesting year to watch the real fight by the heavyweights. Whoever is able to convince Hollywood with their foolproof DRM (digital rights management) with greater penetration and deliver the iTune-like download service, will be the true winner in this game.
Don't rule out Microsoft's chances as yet.

Review: There seems to be a tremendous opportunity for TiVO here. You can currently get video off of TiVO and to an iPod now, but it takes several manual steps to do so. If TiVO added some software to facilitate the downloading to iPod, I think they could quickly re-corner their market, since they are already computer-enabled. The satellite-brand DVR's don't have a computer connection/interface, hence they would be way behind the curve.
In a nutshell, many TiVO owners would buy an iPod, and many iPod owners would buy a TiVO. Win-win all around.
Us New York City commuters would use this feature often!
