Review: We are in a similar market as Google Base but our product gives structure (while still not imposing any set of predefined categories) to our index and therefore makes it possible for users to not only perform keyword search but also browse hierarchically with the ability to specify unlimited number of filters to refine their search.

Review: Google is great for search, etc but they will offend many, many of their online advertisers if they go too far into auctions, retailing, etc. It just could send them on the downward spiral. Sure they have moocho dollars available now, but where did most of it come from? Their advertisers so they better watch their next step.
I think there are many great sites for auctions already where they really care about their customers and work with them. Sure it is going to be tough to take on the giants but with sites like uWonIt.com where they have no listing fees and low sellers fees, they just might succeed.

Review: Yes, I agree with the others leaving comments. Go Google! More competition will only make the others (eBay and Amazon) a little less like they hold all the cards over the participants in the marketplace.

Review: I would love to see someone come around with a new idea and in a fresh marketplace. I think there might be one on the horizon, Oltiby.com, an online auction site in reverse. We, as the buyers, are in charge of what we want to buy and the maximum dollar amount we are willing to pay for the product. Sellers should be the ones to go after the buyers and offer better prices and services--not the buyers. That is what the economy is all about. See you all at this new place.

Review: Go Google! I fell in love with Google while completing my Masters of Library Science. It's all anyone ever talked about for research and information services. They're sure to "get it." I'm so impressed with all their services, so far. Gmail rocks, by the way!

Review: I really hope that Google will knock eBay's "crown" off. I'm sick of eBay "ruling" the online auction market. Someone with the ability to succeed needs to get out there and put them in their place, and give ordinary folks like me a chance to succeed in the online market place without requiring our entire life history to do so. Hope the folks at Google will keep that in mind as they prepare to go into battle with eBay. Some of us out there don't live on plastic cards. We use ordinary everyday cash (you know, the green stuff) to pay for purchases, and buy money orders to order things from decent sellers. But, even to do that you have to submit your life's history to a company like eBay to even register to use their services to find that seller to buy from. Like I said, I really hope the Google folks keep these problems in mind. Also, even though non-plastic users are the minority, we should also be paid attention to and treated with respect.

Review: Glad to see somebody with clout wants to give eBay competition! My experience with eBay has been less than positive. They seem to think they hold all the cards, and sellers should just be happy to line the company's pockets! I'm going to give Google Base a chance, and hope others of you do the same.

Review: Well, I'll say I haven't been disappointed with their Gmail and I think they really do "get it". As I'm in Web design for a living the big "G" is all everyone ever talks about. Sometimes its almost fairytale-ish. I also use the "E-shmay" and I also would like to see them get some competition. They will nickel and dime you into the ground and often bully you into their way or the highway. Filling a claim is almost like a federal issue, with the "paper work" endless e-mails to boot.
