Review: re: aging parents in India.
Why do you leave out caring in cities. This is elder care is lacking. In the towns and villages the family is held together by collective responsibility while in cities aping the west in terms of nuclear families is breaking the joint family system

Review: All good advice here. One addition: the article says "talk to your parents' physician." Fat chance unless you have a medical power of attorney. HIPAA regulations have made it impossible to coordinate parents' care without authorization.

Review: At least on this subject of how to care for aging parents, we in India can show you Americans the way. Go and visit typical India families, not in cities but in towns and villages and see how we care for our elderly. It's not as much but love and devotion is needed.

Review: Thanks to Will Andrews for this message of preparedness for parents. Americans should be proud of the care and concern they have for their aging parents. The world has to learn this from Americans, where conducive environments resulted better health care. Developing countries such as Pakistan would like to have their parents shine in their golden years, although 65% of our population is under 24 years. I suggest that Businessweek.com establish a foundation/trust for global elderly advisory forum where the well being, and the rich experience of the elderly is as old as the older wines. Countries such as Pakistan and others in the region would love to learn, share, and care for your and our elders.

Review: Nice ideas. In the US the three steps -- investigate, prepare and communicate -- are essential, as in any other country.
