Review: Settle down now, kids. I must have indirectly given this man at least several hundred dollars of my own money as a youngster. This donation is terribly disappointing. People, it's going to a freakin' film school. There is no evidence that a film school education leads to a successful career in film. (Jerks can go look it up yourself. Count the number of illustrious alumni from each of the "great" film schools) USC is an endowed private university dripping with Annenberg money already. Furthermore, its students largely come from privileged backgrounds. So what's this donation REALLY about then? If he wanted to demonstrate true charity or altruism, he could have given the money to a quality public university that's desperate for a bit of money. This is about his ego and some complicated formula of self-interest. Worst of all, movies will continue to get more and more awful, because film schools continue to produce grads who know software but can't tell a decent story.

Review: All six Star Wars films as one movie would be the greatest motion picture in history. Revenge of the Sith is my favorite. When will we see Peter Jackson give money towards a memorial for someone like MLK or donate towards a place of education?

Review: Thanks for the best movies ever made and thanks again for giving your hard earned money to causes you believed. The world is a better place thanks to George Lucas.

Review: George Lucas gave $1M to the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial in Washington D.C. A memorial to a guy who once said, "There's no difference between Nazi concentration camp guards and American soldiers in Vietnam." How much money has Lucas given to veteran's groups?

Review: George wanted the six Star Wars films to be complete. I think he did a great job with them (I'm as old as the Original SW) and I'm glad he fixed them his way. George pays no attention to the naysayers. The force is with him, always.

Review: Well, AC, that's your opinion, and I respect it. But if you don't like George Lucas' work, then simply don't watch it. Keep in mind that there are others, however small or large the number may be, who do like and admire this man's work (myself included), and so George Lucas has every right to make his movies. As an aside, I think the "Star Wars" films are the best ever made (all six tied for #1), but when it comes to directing, Spielberg is my favorite (many of his films made it to my list of top films).

Review: I can't believe some of the things I've read here. There are so many possibilities in making Star Wars Episodes Seven and on. I for one would love to see those installments, especially after one to three. Granted, there were a lot of gratuitous special effects, but there had to be in order to keep up with the Joneses (pardon the association). Anyway episodes one to three let us know that the entire story was in fact about Vader, not Luke. Future films have unlimited possibilities.

Review: My wife and I have been struggling with the news of this donation for weeks... Would the money not be better served in Darfur or some other third world country?
I don't know all of the details of Lucas' charitable donations in the past but they could always use more. It seem giving the cash to a film school is shameful in times like these: hunger, poverty, and refugees are far more important issues that need funding.
