Review: What is wrong with these companies crying about copyright infringement? If anything, they should be paying Youtube and thanking the people who are putting clips from movies, TV shows, music videos etc...on Youtube. I have purchased DVDs and CDs because of learning of them through Youtube. This is good publicity for movies, TV shows etc. Stop crying!

Review: I'm sure with Google's significant monetary power these issues should be minor obstacles in its path to become a predominant online media powerhouse.

Review: At least Google is finally focusing on their core, which is pay per click advertising. They were getting sloppy for a while, with a bunch of tech ideas that were meaningless from a business standpoint.

Review: What makes YouTube stand out from other video sites? I have seen this video idea back to 2001. Just wonder what weapon it has to make it so popular in just one- and-a-half years. Do they have a large amount of venture capital?

Review: " Nickname: JusWhenIWas Finished...As long as the material isn't being sold, it's all fair game. " Wrong analogy. Google makes money by selling sponsored links. Commercials are to the broadcast world what Google's sponsored links are to the internet world. If your opinion were correct, any broadcaster would be able to show any movie/t.v. show/sporting event whatsoever and not be required to pay the owner of the content since the broadcaster makes money off of the commercials and not the content itself.

Review: hkfooey - good points above. I too think video aggregation is on the rise. I blogged today about a video search engine called Pure Video at http://wavedrumor.blogspot.com

Review: From a creative and advertising standpoint, anything that enhances the "text" only nature of search is a good thing. So for Google, whose standalone video platform offered little advertising and required a proprietary player, the YouTube environment is a definite bonus. That said, the penchant for acquiring eyeballs in a reactionary manner might have been a winning strategy for Newscorp with MySpace and a losing one for Viacom's Tom Freston - but the jury is still out on whether there will be real long term CONSUMER currency with MySpace or YouTube.

Review: If copyright materials is prevented from and/or removed from Youtube, that will be the death nail. Also, I'm curious to see how Google deals with international videos that thrive on Youtube. Will they also apply copyright standards on these videos?

Review: Google, the next Microsoft Giant, is simply purchasing "opportunity" property. The implication of "suing" for streming copyright material is simply uncalled for. As long as the material isn't being sold, it's all fair game.
