Review: The only reason I would buy a hybrid is for the gas savings. If they're using their savings for zip and amenities rather than gas savings, then they have lost me as a customer. The customer is saying that they want the savings and the amenities. The message I think they're missing is that if the hybrid doesn't bring gas savings then the added amenities are worthless. I know I wouldnt buy it but personally I think that they should raise CAFE to 50 mph on all vehicles. I honestly don't know how people can look into the eyes of our military and our veterans. But it seems like every year Memorial Day passes and no one gives a second thought to our dead or maimed soldiers who paid their lives for our cheap gas!

Review: Hybrid cars are the best short-term solution in city fuel efficiency. However, because batery is powered by gasoline engine, it does not improve fuel efficiency in highway driving. Today, battery is about 300V and supplies about 35 KW (or 50 HP). Power is weak, yet electricity is high enough to elctrocute a rescue worker if you are in an accident. If hybrid cars are popular and mass produced, disposal of batteries will become an environmental problem. Besides, the cost to replace a battery can be well over $1,000.

Review: I bought a Toyota Highlander Hybrid 4WD in August and, after 2,000 miles, have averaged 30.5 mi/gal combined highway and city driving. A 68% increase over the standard gas model. Other automakers now make a lot of noise over having to sacrifice performance to achieve the efficiency Toyota's system delivers. Did I mention the Highlander Hybrid does 0 - 60 in approximately 7 seconds? Toyota was actively developing, building, and selling hybrid technology for years while at the same time Ford hardly acknowledged they had their own hybrid vehicle (licensed from Toyota). Now they're all complaining the Toyota has monopolized the parts pipeline. Where were they five years ago?

Review: I have a Prius, my second one. I never thought I would buy anything but GM but the Prius is an excellent car. The 2005 is roomy, has a comfortable ride and plenty of muscle. The gas mileage is wonderful with fuel at $2.75 a gallon. I do not feel guilty if I do a little more driving. At 23,000, including tax, I don't think the Prius is so expensive. Great car. Who wants a Hummer? Not me.
