NetSuite Gets Ready For Its Close-Up

Bergalad Jun 10, 2009 11:21 PM GMT Netsuite is a mixed bag. I am currently deeply frustrated with it coming up on the end of the 2nd year of use. It is also quite expensive, but it does handle almost everything we need it to, from order to fulfillment and shipping. There are deep flaws in it though, some very basic reports must be custom made. The tech help is abysmal - most of the time, if they acknowledge your defect, it is classified as 30 to 90 days average time to resolve; but don't even believe that. Builds will quite frequently break useability when your account is "upgraded", and you have no choice in the matter. The user group is more helpful than NS support staff, though from time to time you can get some real help through the forum from a NS employee. The holes are just really depressing, though. Nothing creates a sinking feeling as much as going to the help file and seeing the first step in how to do something literally read this : "Go to ." The number of times I've come across this in the documentation is not even funny.

Jack I. Mar 18, 2009 7:10 PM GMT My company has used NetSuite for almost three years. This is definitely the last one. Our contract expires soon and we're going back to QuickBooks (ES this time). We will add (?bolt-on?) the front-office functions of JobPro onto "backoffice QuickBooks". This is a 500% better solution than the unending headaches that come with NetSuite. I have regretted giving up QB (and JobPro) for NS almost from the day I signed the first contract. Advertised features like Outlook sync didn?t work, and then came the slew of system bugs and malfunctions that were ticketed but were fixed only about 30% of the time. But most did not get resolved and still sit on our ticket log. We have given up on a properly working system. If SaaS is the future, it'll be a different SaaS business model than NetSuite's. No company can afford to turn over their sensitive business data to an SaaS and not have assurances that they own the data and can easily and routinely get it backed up in a standard format that can be continued with another SaaS or standalone. With NetSuite your data is up for ransom. They can shut your business down--literally--with just a flick of their switch if you don't settle on their terms.

DG-LST Mar 12, 2009 2:09 PM GMT One stong recommendation for organizations currently using NetSuite or exploring ERP/CRM options...contract a reputable, experienced NetSuite partner. We are currently in this arena and have found an extraordinary success rate with our implementations (many of which are engaged after NetSuite has failed or botched their own implementation). Engaging a partner such as LST (lstondemand.com) who focuses beyond the software into business diagnostics and procedures will greatly reduce pitfalls and align your implementation for success.

Heather Sep 15, 2008 5:19 PM GMT While I have MANY complaints regarding the system and company practices, my most recent complaint is that we were "auto-renewed" for another year at a higher rate without permission. We were IN NEGOTIATIONS with our rep to remove modules to try to make the system for affordable for our needs. The rep was slow to return our calls and emails (if he returned them at all) and seemed to be stalling. I now know why, one of their sales tactics is to stall negotiations and then wait until you are "auto-renewed" and therefore trapped. This is one of the most blatant unfair business practices I have ever been subjected to in my five years as a business owner. When we complained we were forwarded to an A/R specialist who told us we could discontinue using Netsuite but we would still be required to pay for the year. Unbelievable! Buyer Beware!!!

thetruth Sep 5, 2008 5:53 AM GMT Most of the posts here are supplied by NetSuite competitors who don't like losing so many head-to-head battles with the market leader. Check out the NS web site and you will find hundreds of positive testimonials from companies across numerous industries who love the integrated business management suite because it works. NS isn't perfect--of course, no company is, but the BS you find posted on these blogs are just so over the top. 6,000 customers to date and more industry awards then any other on-demand business application suite. They must be do something right.

MF Jul 31, 2008 10:06 PM GMT After using it for a year and hearing all the compliants, I would recommend staying away from Netsuite. Their software is not fit for any publicly traded company or any company wanting to go public because it violates many GAAP rules. For example you can delete journal entries or any record you want with a click of a button. Check with a CPA before using Netsuite. Since Netsuite is an on-demand web service, once you are late with payments they can shut down your entire company?s access with a mouse click. They will require an additional fee to recover any data for you. So they can literally shutdown your business.

lk Jun 20, 2008 7:58 PM GMT This is all false information any one can type in here dont trust "Do not expect to get any customer care from the Sales Reps at Netsuite. I had a billing dispute. Their way of handling it was to have the Sales Rep say he was handling it and then have the Collections department sweep in with their Gestapo-like tactics to "settle" the dispute! I disagree with Wulph that a smaller organization cannot use this system though. We use it in a company of about 30 employees and the system generally works well. I would never consider this system for a manufacturing environment since they have some huge weaknesses in their inventory program."
