Ghost, there's no such thing as an "internal" revenue generator. Even Google's revenue generators are external: advertisers.

So, what does this tell us? It's really not Twitter that's "profitable," but something else -- in this case, it's Google's search engine, an external revenue generator. Twitter's internal revenue generator, on the other hand... oh, sorry, there is none.

this is all great for Twitter. But what about the fact that Twitter is making the money off of us their free service.Hmmm ...

It's definitely good that Twitter has inked these deals aside from the fact they bring revenues to the enterprise. Twitter's internal search engine is definitely strained and sometimes struggles during the day to keep up with the sheer volume of tweets. With Bing and Google now indexing the tweet database, users will have better and more varied tools to separate the wheat from the chaff.http://twitter.com/empirasign_eqhttp://twitter.com/empirasign_fx

To be honest with you, it really took that article to make me realize how important Twitter could become (or already is). Its combination with search takes it to another level. Twitting for the fun of it is one thing, but I can easily see a future where corporations and people interact around products and services information. Think also politics or journalism here... Twitter could even replace traditional surveys in some situations. And don't worry about your privacy because you only tweet about what you want people to know about you. For total privacy, there's still your email address.

Twitter is very much a c21st Phenomenon. Biz Stone and his team to date have quite correctly leaned in favour of Scale versus quick Commercial Wins. This is a commendable Strategy and one that needs to remain Front and Centre. It makes no sense to impact the stream with Adverts but maybe it will make sense to place the Advertising on the River Bank. This is a serious Commercial enterprise which is still in its parabolic Hyper Growth Phase. The degree of scepticism that continues to swirl around the Model is plain ignorant. The Market for their Product is the world of 6b Souls or anyone who owns a Mobile phone. furthermore, it is not just one ecosystem but a Multiverse. The Political Dynamic is also outsized in that Twitter and Facebook have been the c21st Net as it was to the Lilliputians when they challenged Gulliver [that was the State]. I remain bamboozled that Google were so slow to wave a very big Cheque and are now being forced to play on Twitter's terms.Aly-Khan Satchuwww.rich.co.keTwitter alykhansatchu

Wow, I know a lot of people realize their tweets aren't really private, but this will really open up the ability of bosses, spouses and HR departments to find what you're saying more easily. Also, is it just me, or does Bloomberg BusinessWeek sound silly? Maybe Bloomber's BusinessWeek at least?
