Vee Jan 27, 2009 10:42 PM GMT THROW WIPRO OUT OF AMERICA, THIS IS ANOTHER COMPANY THAT EVER HIRES IN USA, THEY ALL THE TIME BRING STAFF/HITECH SLAVES FROM INDIA AT A VERY CHEAPER RATE AND MAKE THEM SLOG DAY AND NIGHT. SLAVERY IS BANNED IS AMERICAN, THIS HITECH SLAVERY SHOULD ALSO BE BANNED. THE ONLY WAY THIS COMPANIES SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE IN USA, IS THEY SHOULD HIRE AMERICAN CITIZENS FOR THIER AMERICAN PROJECTS. IF THEY DONT WANT TO DO IT THEN THROW THEM OUT OF AMERICA.

Gartner accepted Satyam Money too Jan 15, 2009 1:58 PM GMT Gartner is a very biased source for this story. Satyam has accepted and Paid the Gartner "Magic Quadrant" related fees for years. For a minimum of $80,000 annually, dozens of companies pay Gartner and they are "magically" included in their recommendations of software and services vendors. Satyam has been recommended by Gartner for years in exchange for their money. Now they are quoted in BusinessWeek as a reliable source???

Shantanu Chatterjee Jan 14, 2009 9:49 AM GMT fujomik:I wonder what your nationality is.Anyway there is something like 25 TRILLION dollars parked away by 'scrupolously honest' westerners in offshore tax havens.Surprisingly nobody in the general press ever talks about that. This is enough money to solve practically all the world's problems idling or paying negative interest in unproductive numbered accounts protected by strict bank secrecy laws.Very good example for us to follow:)

Shantanu Chatterjee Jan 14, 2009 6:58 AM GMT to fujomik:I suppose you were sleeping when enron, worldcom and the financial crisis happened.Satyam is a one off.Wipro is actually a good company and world bank blacklisting is headed by UK based firms. No charges have been filed,no laws violated.

fujomik Jan 14, 2009 5:26 AM GMT Asians - Chinese, Korean, Indian, Pakisa, Arabs, Bangladeshi & other 3rd World Types should KINDLY DESIST form bringing their corrupt 3rd World practices into Developed Western countries. Afer all Western Countries became Developed because everyone obeys the law, unlike corrupt 3rd World Asian countries where everyone breaks the laws to become rich as quicky as possible.

Studio boss Jan 14, 2009 4:51 AM GMT Hey, we all know that the World Bank is no torch bearer for honesty. It's had its own share of controversies. Why then is it trying to rake up old mud? It appears that the World Bank is also being opportunistic. World Bank is using the current uncertainty in Indian after the Satyam debacle to clean out the cobwebs. By trying to expose other companies, the World Bank hopes to add a fresh coat of paint to its shady image. Tch Tch.

Gopees Jan 14, 2009 2:17 AM GMT What a load of crap about asking Wipro to go out of US, Indians being dodgy. Guys just understand the biggest and most dodgiest people in the world are located in US. Every one is 3-4 years you hear about Enron, Arthur Anderson, Worldcomm and follow it recently by Lehman Bros, Morgan Stanley and not to mention the CEO's of Ford and GM going to parliment with a begging bowl. So clean up your own backyard before you look at others. Not that other countries are any better, Iceland has gone bankrupt with plenty of European banks in neck deep in sh**. On the other side of continent in Australia you can see companies like Babcock & Brown, Tricom, Strom finance and god knows how many more to come pulling the wool over government and investors. So as long as there are people who can be fooled there will be opportunists willing to take you for a ride. This is human pscycology 101.So back off guys and take it easy.

Steve G Jan 14, 2009 12:18 AM GMT I've worked for a fortune 100 company for over a couple of decades now. I hold high office. I remember 10 years ago when I was a division head, I had to go through hell to get the IT guys to do the smallest things. After a gazillion meetings things were always over the budget, late and political. Then came outsourcing - these companies Wipro, Satyam, Infosys etc actually have done a good job bringing down costs and providing good service. As an American I do not particularly care to outsource our jobs - but those that think we outsourced autos to Japs and Koreans, manufacturing to Chinese etc out of the goodness of our hearts are simply naive. We did it because we wanted to climb up the ladder of productivity. So stop bashing these companies and their people. Bad apples are bound to happen and they seem to be dealing with them. We need to get our act together and learn to live within our means. Next year if the chinese do not buy our T-Bills we will be in deep trouble.

Viv Jan 13, 2009 11:20 PM GMT I read comments against India, Indian companies and outsourcing. I just felt very sad on the quality of readers at Businessweek. Is this where we want to head towards? I just wish readers have a better perspective before commenting so negatively on India and its companies. No body bombed American companies when Enron, Lehmann, Bear & Stearns happened...so please bear due respect to India, its citizens, and its companies. There's lot more than the ears can hear and eyes can see.

Marsh Jan 13, 2009 9:36 PM GMT Indians all over the world are consumed by scandals, greed and corruption more than any other nationality I know of. I come from Kenya and I can assure you the dirty deals you are seeing in Satyam and the likes is so common there by the Indians businessmen that it has costed our government billions.
