I'm not able do research with Google because most of the results for journal articles are paid results. You have to pay before you can see the keywords you searched for. Google once said they would never do that. I want the option to see the text in which my search words occur, not to be flooded with pay-only links.

There is censorship no matter what. At least in China you know who is pulling the strings. Here it is the fear of not getting a job or losing a job because you said something stupid online. Everybody got all excited about the second name thing even though it is a 100% true. I would argue that we need to think of who we are online as a caricature. The world is much different than what is painted online.. much better in fact and much worse in some cases.

1) why would it me necessary to threaten Moto with an order stopping them selling Droids, if Android is open and free.2) iPhone has had open standard html5 based web apps since 20073) why do you believe that you can ship a non runtime compatible Java and escape the same penalties that hit Microsoft when the did it.

I clearly don't trust Schmidt, Google's core cash is about advertising so in that context you cannot expect them to behave well towards users. Schmidt, you need to find another source of cash and pretty quickly.

It is obvious that free trade inherently will have to be done with open communication.Which China is not going to allow so where does that leave The United States, other than at a disadvantage

This guy ran to the US government for protection when it looked like Microsoft would acquire Yahoo and thereby create a credible challenger to Schmidt's monopoly. Then he just hijacked all the gmail users' contact lists to create a social network, and when said users expressed some concern about their privacy, he just brushed it off with "If you're concerned that others will learn about what you're up to, may be you shouldn't be doing it in the first place".Not evil? Yeah, right!
