Azeri Apr 22, 2010 4:42 PM GMT I agree with SAS. But I don't understand why some Turks don't like the idea of selling companies to foreign investors. Its good for Turkey; you need expertise and capital. Other countries beg for that kind of investments.

Alexbaj Apr 17, 2010 4:24 PM GMT PM Erdogan is just following the name of his party in morphing Turkey to what a Modern State should be in the contemporary world. I believe, he will achieve that goal by making the policies that will make most at unease for a while but he is bent upon bringing equality and justice to his homeland. I wish him and his party well. They have already brought Turkey a long way to recovery. He is cozying up with his neighbors not Syria and Iran. They have great business and diplomatic relationship with Israel and should be given credit for that.

Quark Apr 17, 2010 2:14 PM GMT There is political instability because Prime Minister Erdogan is a determined Islamo fascist. He is attacking Turkey's secular institutions, like the Army, day by day. He is bullying Turkey's non-Muslim neighbors: Armenia, Israel, Greece, and Bulgaria. He is cozying up to Syria and Iran.

unhappy Apr 16, 2010 3:22 PM GMT Whoever wrote this piece clearly haven't done their homework. Most of the bank regulation bills/laws were passed before the AKP.Also, when being a bully began to be considered a being strong-willed.

SAS Apr 16, 2010 12:15 PM GMT For all the controversial politics the AKP has been involved with, the fact remains its economic managements has been largely competent.

Mukund Apr 16, 2010 11:49 AM GMT Controversial he may be, but we could do with more such strong-willed, reform-minded politicians here in India...
