Robert Lieber Sep 11, 2008 4:21 AM GMT Why should Ford have to worry about pricing this competitively against the Prius? Aren't they two different technologies? My combined household income is less than 100,000. I would gladly pay 30,000 clams for this technology. Especially because it could lead to better developments in the technology, it (could) be American Made and it most definitely would open the market for other vehicles, like this. I wonder what their market test results showed?

Bill Chin Sep 11, 2008 3:37 AM GMT Ford want to maintain the best profit by keeping it OUT of the US market due to the Stronger international curreny instead of the weaker $US dollar for the stronger $EU. Until Ford gets the Federal FUNDING like CHYSLER did they won't even think of placing in the US Market or Mexico.

Barry Borella Sep 11, 2008 2:49 AM GMT If this vehicle has passed US emissions and crash tests, I see a future in "grey market" imports! How about an overseas delivery program? With a stupid strategy like this, Ford deserves to enter chapter 11 (or 7, take your choice)

Earth Ling Sep 11, 2008 1:42 AM GMT I'd definitely consider one at $24,000. Hell, if Ford cops out, I hope that Fiat does what Ford won't do. Bring over their Fiat 500 and Fiat Grande Punto with 50-60mpg... $20k? I'm there.

tom Sep 11, 2008 1:28 AM GMT so true... ford is making one bad decision after another, and after 20 years of this kind of behavior it's no wonder they are falling apart. i can't wait for the day they and others like them get squashed by electrical vehicles. only 2 companies can do it that i know of. goss132, and tesla.

Ted Sep 11, 2008 1:10 AM GMT "But Ford doesn't believe it could charge enough to make money on an imported ECOnetic."Since when has Ford been concerned about making money? At 65mpg, I'd take a SERIOUS look at it!
