I drive 65+ miles 1 way every work day, I'd bite their arm off to get my hands on one of these, I will never understand the American reasoning behind this kind of decision, you don't change markets or trends by following the herd or playing it safe, Ford has a good enough brand name and the money to advertise the ass out of such a vehicle and sell more than enough, and change market trends in the process!Stupid stupid stupid decision on Fords part, they could be in n the ground floor on a new market in the US instead of playing it safe once again!!!

No -- it's not about americans thinking Diesel is old technology -- it's all about taxes and _regulation_! If government were to treat diesel fairly in the economy, we would see more diesel cars.

All it would take for this car to be sell in the United States is a good marketing campaign on how great diesel technology is.

Ford got "caught" by a huge increase in the cost of petroleum. Compared to its competition, Ford enjoys far fewer government subsidies and protections, and is saddled with significant baggage such as pensions, labor costs, and benefits.BTW - Ford vehicle quality is as good as Toyota's when you look at the TGW data. When you buy a Toyota or most any Asian vehicle, you are buying from companies that enjoy protected local markets, low interest loans, and in the case of China, few worker protections.

Idiots...in the northwest alone(greenpeace country) decent used diesels don't last a week on craigslist and go for greater-than bluebook prices...I have no doubt Ford could sell 100K of those bad boys in the U.S. alone at $24k a pop.

Today's Ford is acting like a dinosaur facing extinction and begging for its last supper (govt. bailout.)What happened to the entreprenuerial spirit, Maverick attitude Mr. Henry Ford created?Market the new updated Diesel fuel technology and Americans will buy.Make the damn car in America (I heard the F150 plants are collecting dust) and provide US Citizens with a job. We'll come and work to make an honest day's wage.Find your spine, take the bull by the horns and make it happen before Honda, Toyota, VW, etc. eats your lunch again!

Why can't a strong President streamkline the safety and emissions standards with Congress to be consistent with Europe's?? That would make it much more cost effective for the U.S. to get the best fuel saving technology.

Very good looking car. Ford needs to figure out how to get this to market. Ford has finally started to make good looking cars and suvs with great quality. I absolutly love my Lincoln MKX and get compliments on it in Los Angeles where no one drives American anymore. The one market they need more than anything they will not be able to get into without this car. Build the damn engine in Mexico and call it a day Mr. Fields!!

Don't be angry at Ford. Be angry with the new Diesel emission standards for 2007 and 2008. These clean burning diesels are not clean enough for Califoria and New York. We are forced to pay for cars with new exhaust systems that on a global scale are pointless. We can't possibly reduce our carbon emissions enough to make up for what is being pumped into the air in China, Russia, and India. Anyone who thinks they are saving the world by driving a Prius is nuts. On another note, Ford of Europe is the only profitable division of FMC and has been for quite a while.

The decision by Ford is ONE MORE proof that big business in the US is fully incompetent. Ford is a global company & refuses to sell high MPG cars in the USA.Market manipulations.
