J Simmons Sep 8, 2008 11:58 PM GMT Ford should put the put down the charts, graphs and marketing studies and try the old fashion way of listening to their customers. The market has already opened their minds and wallets and Honda/Toyota have listened. Make it part of the severance package you are offering to your employees as you continue to lay off hard working Americans...

bob Sep 8, 2008 11:57 PM GMT My bicycle gets thousands of miles without using even one gallon of gasoline. By not owning a car, I save about $5,000 a year.In urban areas, with decent transit and a few bicycle lanes many healthy people can live without owning a car.Cars may always be part of city life - for handicapped people.

Why Exxon Mobile stock is high Sep 8, 2008 11:56 PM GMT Well, high MPG means the ExxonMobile oilmen and their gang wont make billions per quater and then take out ads to tearse the consummers that they made too much money. Get rid of the congressman that vote with ExxonMobile and we will have high MPG which of course make this 65MPG car is more sellable in the US.

dave Sep 8, 2008 11:55 PM GMT 60 mpg is good, now make it a Diesel / Electric Hybrid it will get 90 mpg then sell it in the USA. the savings in MPG far outwiegh the cost of diesel taxes(thanks government!!)so if the lack of deisel availablitly and high price of the fuel is a show stopper, why is the government pushing hydrogen cars????(no fueling system in place,at least deiselcan be purchased about anywhere in the USA)finally $350 million to build the new mexican deisel plant is not much money, look at as about two weeks of reserves, small price for a new factory.Ford is toast if they drop this thing. IDIOTS!!!!!

Mike Sep 8, 2008 11:53 PM GMT I drove a Ford Focus diesel in Germany last fall and it was great! Lots of pickup, no diesel smell, and it didn't sound like a bus. I'd buy one.

Russ Sep 8, 2008 11:51 PM GMT A car the size of a roller skate that would cost $25,000.00. It would be hard to justify that purchase.

Steve Sep 8, 2008 11:51 PM GMT Somewhere along the way, CEOs and analysts acquiesced to the notion that American's are stupid, which is only partially true. Diesel pickups have been good products for years and knowledgeable drivers understand their better effciency and longevity. I am into my second VW diesel and love them. Its too bad because Ford and the American people will be the losers in the longrun.

Andy Sep 8, 2008 11:50 PM GMT typical. they won't bring it here, and if they did, the EPA would make sure that it only gets 35-40 MPG.we don't live in a free market anymore, and haven't for a very long time. thank the socialists/democrats/neocons that are always pushing for more control/regulation on everything. the nanny state boloney needs to go.
