Ha! Go to the scoretop website: http://www.scoretop.com/ I can't believe this. How juvenile is the GMAC to put this on that site? I feel like I've done something wrong for merely going to the site after reading this article. What a bunch of bullshit this whole circus is.

I couldn't agree more...GMAC said that they feel a sense of responsibility towards test-takers and business schools. What happened to this sense of responsibility towards test-takers when they sat and waited as students kept falling into the trap. Why stop now, could have waited another 5 years and gathered more evidence and punished 20,000 test-takers instead.

I donot condone cheating... but, in this case 1) I donot think its fair to punish those who were not aware that they were actually cheating; 2) GMAC had to have been aware of this for sometime and why didnot they post on their website that this was a bogus/fradulent site; 3) Preventing those who alledged cheated [that is those listed on the hard drive] is an assumption first and second if they did cheat banning them from ever being able to take the GMAT is harsh, especially since there are no other testing agencies out there... Hmm, I think thats called a MONOPLY... and, if alledgedly did use this to better their score and are doing WELL in B school and/or have graduate and have done well how are you going to punish them... Basically, are they saying the people we think cheated will NEVER be able to go to B school because "we said so"... A company that has a "monopoly" on this testing industry should not have that much power....

It's all about establishing monopoly by wiping out the competition. There should be other institutions as well to conduct approved standardized tests. It should not be in the hands of just one institution who is growing too big for its own boots.

onetime vs. repeated briefing

If everybody is getting a second chance, these students deserve a second chance too, but with penalty. Everybody made a mistake to reach this point. I suggest canceling the score for prospective students but allowing them to reappear to reach there potential goal. Taking GMAT for current or passed out student doesn't make sense, but they should be penalized based on number of questions posted. I believe GMAC mentioned $2400 for every question. If you divide it in three parts, one for GMAC (not helping these students by issuing a warning), one for ST (for running such environment), one for student (posting data), every student should pay $800* number of live question posted. This way punishment will be based on the level of breach. This will also not end the career of the students who have already spent a lot in term of time and effort. In addition, this will avoid any legal issues and will cover all the expenses GMAC is bearing for this investigation. Any additional surplus can be used for cleanup/ crackdown of other sites.

GMAC bought the Hard Disk at an auction conducted by the Sheriff. The auction was conducted to recover the $2.3M hat was awarded to GMAC by the court. Here GMAC again played its trick to acccess the hard disk. And the sad part is that BW is quoting that the court awarded the hard disk to the GMAC.Shame on poor reporting by BW.

If you are saying GMAC was not allowed to check Hard disk, how come they sent e mail to all VIP users? How GMAC came to know who are VIP users and their e mail Ids?

I request all including BW journalists to be more informed and make rational comments. If you read court's order you will find that GMAC has misreably failed to act responsibly for the whole issue. And if you also carefully analyze, you may conclude that now GMAC's officials are going after the students to save their face/job and to have easy hunting. Be aware that GMAC has even changed its some original statement to court which court did not take. It may be because of the fact that there were some manipulations on GMAC's part. Now, how are we sure that GMAC is not going manipulate data in HD. This may be one major reason why COURT denied access to the HD to GMAC. So, all who are making racial comments, or calling people cheaters please ask your morale whether you have been right in your comments. I think one major reason why many people have come up with such comments because none articles here have really covered careful analysis of the COURT's judgement. If that were presented, I think all wrath will be upon GMAC's officials. People would be asking for their heads.

A person new to the GMAT test does not even know that there is possibility of getting the same question on the test which someone else has taken before him. Even GMAC mentions this nowhere in its prospectus, so if an ignorant person asks someone even to disclose some questions which he/she encountered in exams, then the ignorant person is not at fault (bcoz he is not aware of the non disclosure policy unless he signs from GMAT exams), but the person who discloses is at fault. Any comments on this.
